Bleeding Art at Beakerhead – CREATING COOL

After watching Beakerhead – “a smash-up of science, art and  engineering” – grow over the past few years into one of Calgary’s coolest events, we’re thrilled to be partnering with them for a smash up event of our own on Friday, September 16th.  We’re asked for tours of our shop on a regular basis so we thought why not open the door to our inner sanctum for a fun evening? As Beakerhead organizers say, “when you throw open the doors to science and engineering through a welcoming world of art and entertainment, a lot can happen.” Tickets are now officially on sale. CREATING COOL will be a truly unique experience. As the fog rolls in and the mini indoor snowstorm descends you’ll take a self-guided tour of our own little shop of special effects.  There will be film screenings – featuring Bleeding Art’s award winning stop motion motion animated shorts – Skeleton Girl and The River.SONY DSC

Watch Gunther Schetterer, 1st Assistant Makeup on season one of Wynonna Earp guide talented NUMA make-up students as they provide free special effects make-up demos, featuring you as the model!  How about a bullet hole or zombie face to complete your Beakerhead outfit?

And speaking of dressing the part – all cos-players and steam punkers are invited to wear their very best costume – there will be some super fun photo opps – including taking a pic with a scary film prop or beside a unique antique 1917 Hit and Miss gas/kerosene engine. One spectacle not to be missed but not for the faint of heart will be a demonstration of the live autopsy suit we made for Syfy’s Wynonna Earp.  This exhibit alone convinced us 14+ was the right age limit for CREATING COOL.  Adults and older teens will have a great time. LW on set horiz format

We’re also happy to host funky foodie Popculture’s custom made theme popsicles and more yummy snacks from Devour Catering for you to munch on.

There is more to tell but we don’t want to give it all away, surprises are always fun…

Attendance is limited to 100 people so don’t delay – CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS.
