Heartland horse blog part III

In this Heartland episode from Season 6, a woman with a heart too big for her own good has a hoarding problem; she keeps too many horses in a small barn, neglecting them because she can’t feed or clean up after all of them. A team of us went in armed with dirt, muck, liquid poops of all colours, hay, grass clippings, syrups and paints, to make these 18 normally healthy horses appear in less than tip top shape. We painted on rib cages and shadows to emphasize malnutrition, tufted up hair to simulate bites and nips, and manufactured certain bodily fluids in the shop to replicate the real thing in order to make the tails messy and unkempt. Remember, everything we put on, we have to take off – liquid poop included. This was a long day.
